Abby grew up dancing at Ballet Theatre School in Cullman, AL under the direction of Elaine Brown Willingham. She danced with the pre-professional division of the Alabama Ballet Center for Dance, under the direction of former ABT principal Wes Chapman and former London City Ballet principal and ABT soloist Roger Van Fleteren. She went on to dance professionally with the Alabama Ballet company. She attended the University of Oklahoma on academic and ballet scholarships, where she joined the Oklahoma Festival Ballet, before earning a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master’s of Library and Information Studies. She founded and owned Awen Academy of Ballet and Ballroom in Norman, OK. In Corpus Christi, she became a Principal Soloist with the Corpus Christi Ballet, while teaching and coaching students for various competitions. She has been teaching for almost two decades, helping students develop a love of ballet and the work it requires. Her son, Horus, is a professional ballet dancer, currently dancing with Colorado Ballet Studio Company.
