Born and raised in The Netherlands, Marit graduated from The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, The Netherlands. During her education she continued to study at the summer courses of The Royal Ballet School Antwerp in Belgium and The Royal Ballet School in London, England. Upon graduation she joined The Royal Ballet of Flanders in Belgium. She also performed as a guest dancer with the Nederlands Dans Theater, Dutch National Ballet, Atlantic Southeast Ballet and ended up with Tulsa Ballet where she danced the last 8 years of her career. 

A few of her most memorable moments during her career are performing at the Paris Opera (Palais Garnier) and The Kennedy Center. Other highlights include working closely with choreographers like Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato and Hans van Manen.

In 2017 she took over the ownership of Santa Rosa Dance Theater with her husband Joshua Trader. Under their stewardship, SRDT has become the premier ballet school in Sonoma County, California.

After moving to Utah in the summer of 2024 and getting certified in teaching PBT she's excited to start her journey teaching this great innovative body conditioning and strength-building program that prioritizes muscle memory development through ballet-specific exercises.
