Nicole Starbuck (Tsal’gyur) danced with the San Francisco Ballet Company for ten years. A finalist at the Jackson International Ballet Competition, she apprenticed with the San Francisco Ballet and joined the company as a member of the Corps de Ballet in 1995. She was promoted to Soloist in 2002.
During her tenure with SFB under the direction of Helgi Tomasson, she performed a range of iconic roles, including Peasant Pas de Trois, Cygnets, and Neopolitan in Swan Lake; Silver Fairy in Sleeping Beauty; the Snow Queen in The Nutcracker; and featured roles in George Balanchine’s Serenade and Jewels, as well as Jerome Robbins’ Glass Pieces and The Cage. She also shared the stage with Lucia Lacarra in Nacho Duato’s Without Words and Yuan Yuan Tan in Yuri Possokov’s Medea, and danced principal roles in Val Caniparoli’s Slow and Death of a Moth.
Ms. Starbuck is grateful to have collaborated with some of the most esteemed artists in the field, including Natalia Makarova, Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, Nacho Duato, Mark Morris, Val Caniparoli, Susan Jaffe, and Georgina Parkinson. Choreographing since her early years as a student, she has been teaching group and private classes since 2001.
In addition to her extensive dance career, she holds certifications in massage therapy, yoga instruction, meditation instruction, as a personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and Progressing Ballet Technique Level 1.
