I started my dance training at age 4 with Ruth Goodman, historically the founder of the premiere dance studio for 25 years in Savannah, Georgia. I continued my dance studies at Calvert-Brodie School of Dance (Columbia, South Carolina), training with Ann Brodie, and danced as a senior company member with Columbia City Ballet, the ballet company founded by Ms. Brodie. As a member of Columbia City Ballet, I danced in performances of The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Carnival of the Animals, and an original work entitled, Murder at the Ballet. I even got the opportunity to train with Michael Lland (a former dancer and Ballet Master with American Ballet Theater). I then earned a B.A. in English, and a Master of Public Health (Health Education and Promotion) from the University of South Carolina. I have taught ballet, contemporary, worship dance, pointe and dance conditioning for over 12 years, including work at Compass Dance Academy (Tyrone, Georgia) and at Next Level Dance (Peachtree City, Georgia). My husband, Rob, and I are blessed with two daughters, both dancers, as well. Our oldest daughter has completed her B.A. in Dance and our younger daughter is currently a college double major in dance and English. I am certified as an Exercise Physiologist by the American College of Sports Medicine. In addition, I have over 13 years of experience in leading exercise programming in the geriatric population (including aquatic exercise) and almost 30 years of experience in health education programming, serving a variety of populations including, preschoolers and school-aged children, teens and adults. I enjoy bringing all of these skills to the dance community and I feel so blessed to be able to offer PBT as a Level 3 Instructor. I have continued my dance training through study with dance professionals such as Yasmine Hassaan, Paulo Manso de Sousa, and Refuge Dance Company. My most recent dance performances have been with Project Dance Atlanta, Classical Dance Theatre, and Compass Dance Academy. In the summer of 2017, my youngest daughter and I were part of a dance mission team serving in Fafe, Portugal. In 2021, I earned the Safety & Wellness Certificate from Youth Protection Advocates in Dance (YPAD) and the Exercise is Medicine Level 2 credential from the American College of Sports Medicine. I also became certified to teach Progressing Contemporary Technique (PCT), also offered by PBT. In addition to these certifications, I earned the Master Certified Health Education Specialist credential (National Commission for Health Education Credentialing--MCHES). I am currently completing the Wellcoaches certification to provide health and wellness coaching, as I work toward status as a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. I am currently employed withAquila On-Site Health & Fitness Management, as the Coordinator for Wellness Campaigns. I provide program and administrative direction and support for wellness and sustainability activities and programs serving the health promotion needs within a Federal worksite agency in the greater Atlanta area.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is a unique and essential approach to the art form that is ballet. All young dancers should be aware of PBT and I urge them to embrace this revolutionary support system
