Welcome to Move and Groove 6 directed by Jenna Roberts. Today’s class is designed to help dancers develop the strength and awareness needed to enhance their dancing. We will begin by warming up the core and then move on to focus on alignment and jump preparation. If at any time the dancer feels that they are struggling to complete the exercise or maintain their form during the exercise, please slow the exercise down and modify where appropriate.


Today’s class will begin with Get Down and Glow, an exercise that targets the obliques and deep abdominals while warming up the lower body. This exercise will be followed by an equally challenging core and alignment exercise called Elevate and Align. Here, dancers will focus on keeping their spine elongated and their inner thighs activated as they maintain pelvic stability and correct hip alignment.


The class will finish with Preparation for Cabriole, an exercise that is designed to help dancers understand the mechanics required for cabrioles. Dancers will focus on bringing the bottom leg to the top leg while keeping their shoulder blades down and their abdominals tight.


Tips :

Remind dancers to keep the ribs soft and down in Get Down and Glow.

Encourage dancers to think about keeping their top leg really still in Prep for Cabriole

Promote awareness of the VMO to support knee alignment and turnout.
