Welcome to Recovery Class 19 guided by Jenna Roberts. In today’s class we will be focusing on lengthening and realigning, helping dancers restore their muscles through targeted recovery exercises.

The first exercise will be Release, Restore and Realign. Here, we will use the ProBall to activate the core while gently stretching, releasing through the shoulders and the neck. Please note that there are several modifications for each exercise should dancers find a stretch uncomfortable or too challenging.

In Align, Hold, Lengthen, we will again use the ProBall to work on strengthening the supporting side and engaging the deep abdominals to keep the pelvis level and the spine long.

Our final exercise in this class will be Band Stretch and Release, where we will use the mini-loop band to unlock the hip flexors while stretching the adductors. Encourage dancers to breathe through the movement, allowing the body to flow and release.

Tips

Remind dancers to stretch safely and mindfully.

Promote activation of the deep core to stabilise the pelvis.

Check that dancers are lengthening through their supporting leg.
