This mobility-based class is designed to support younger students in developing healthy movement patterns, pelvic control, and joint freedom through gentle, targeted work.
It opens with Hip Warm-up, helping students to mobilise their hips in both side-lying and tabletop positions while introducing functional movement with light resistance. The class then explores rotational control and abdominal activation through Pedal with Core, helping students refine their awareness of turnout and spinal stability. Foot strength and articulation are addressed before winding down with mindful stretches that release tension in the neck, hips, and legs. Each section is designed to foster ease, coordination, and proprioceptive awareness — all essential components of mobility in growing dancers.
Tips
Use props as tactile feedback, especially for core stability and pelvic positioning.
Remind students that mobility means both control and softness — aim for both.
Create space for students to breathe during each stretch. They’ll often find more release without extra effort.
