In Move & Groove 4, guided by Melissa McCabe, dancers will work on two key components of technique: core activation and weight placement. This dynamic warm-up includes playful movement patterns that encourage students to feel where their weight is and how it shifts during transitions.


By building early awareness of how to correctly distribute weight over the supporting leg, dancers can improve their balance, direction changes, and clarity of movement. These foundations are crucial for safe and confident technique development.


Tips

Help students identify their base of support—especially in balances or changes of direction.

Reinforce that core strength helps with stability, not just strength.

Encourage initiating movement from the centre, not the limbs.
