This is a very difficult exercise. The students will be working in to an arabesque and attitude position, which will help build strength and stability during adage.
Starting position: Have the student roll the mat to create foot support, lie face down on the Proball with the feet in coupé derrière touching the mat, hands on the floor.
Steps:
- Start by having the student lift the working leg into attitude.
- They will then extend the leg into arabesque.
- Have the student return the leg to attitude and move the body into a renversé.
- They will then bring the leg back to center, shift the weight forward onto the elbows, and lift higher into a penché.
- The student will then return to hand support, shift the body slightly forward, and lift both feet off the floor to perform a battu to switch legs.
- Repeat the full sequence with the other leg.
- They will relax the torso over the Proball to finish.
