This is a great exercise for the students coordinating the the port de bras and feeling the length on the supporting side, as well as getting a lovely adductor stretch.
Starting Position: Have the student kneel on the mat. Place the right leg extended to 2nd position on top of the Proball at the side, foot pointed. Arms open to 2nd position to prepare.
Steps:
- The student will begin by flexing the right foot and perform a side port de bras.
- They will then return, arms pass through 1st and open to 2nd, foot pointed again.
- Repeat once more.
- Repeat again, this time bending the knee with the foot flexed.
- They will return, arms open overhead and down to 2nd position.
- Repeat once more, this time taking the port de bras outward.
- Return, arms to 2nd position.
- The student will flex the foot and lean out over the ball, reaching gently away.
- Return and point the foot.
- Repeat the full sequence with the other leg.
