The students will build strength through the upper body in this exercise by working in to the core and the coordination of the port de bra.
Starting Position: Have the students place the Proball under the abdomen, extend the legs, rotated, with the feet pressed against the wall in 2nd position. Start with the head down, palms facing the floor.
Steps:
- They will begin by lifting the torso, bringing the arms to 5th position.
- They will lower by leading the chin to chest, diving the torso down.
- They will then lift the torso again, reaching far with the arms in 5th position, and return to start.
- Have the students reverse the action: lower the torso reaching far, then rise with chin close to chest, articulating the spine.
- They will hold the torso at a midway point, arms in 5th position.
- They will then twist the torso to one side, return to center, and twist to the other side.
- Have the students open the arms to 2nd position, undulate through the elbows, and return the arms to 5th position, back to start.
- Repeat the full sequence once more.
- Place the hands on the Proball and roll it forward to stretch the back to finish.
