This is a great exercise for the students to work on stability in the supporting leg while also working in to the glutes and building endurance.
Starting Position: Have the students place the pro ball on the mat in front of the body. Place both hands on the ball and stand in turnout with the supporting leg in demi-plié and the working leg in coupé.
Steps:
- They will start by extending the working leg into arabesque.
- Have the students return to coupé.
- Repeat 6 times.
- On the 7th repetition, hold the leg in arabesque. Shift the back hand to the centre of the ball and rotate the body, keeping the leg in parallel and lifting the top arm.
- They will then lower and lift the leg. Repeat 7 times.
- On the final lowering, step forward and place the opposite leg in coupé to start the sequence on the other side.
- They will stand with legs wide in parallel and roll the ball forward for a final stretch.
