This exercise helps to develop shoulder mobility and stability, which is essential in ballet training. It's designed to balance the flexibility and stability in the shoulders, preventing imbalances that could affect a dancer's performance.
Preparation: Ensure students have mastered Level One of the Senior level. Use a ¾ inflated fusion ball placed under the ribcage.
Steps:
1. Students begin face down, legs in first position, spine elongated, arms by their sides.
2. Instruct students to lengthen their arms, reaching their hands underneath their forehead, with the elbows wide.
3. Have them twist their torso to the right, maintaining arm placement.
