A great exercise for not only opening the hips but for releasing the torso and hamstrings.
Starting Position: Have the students start in seated fourth position with a fusion ball under each hand, placed in front of the body.
Steps:
- They will roll the balls forward and return, Repeat twice.
- Have them swing around the ball under the front leg-side hand, pushing the hips forward and opening the opposite arm.
- Return and repeat with the other arm.
- They will then unfold the legs straight in front of the body and roll the balls forward. Return to sitting.
- Have the students roll the balls back and scoop the spine down into a curl, keeping the shoulders off the floor, Lift the chest to return.
- Repeat the exercise on the opposite side.
