We want the students to really focus on the supporting side during this exercise, this will help build strength and awareness of what the standing leg is doing.
Starting Position: The student will be standing side on at the barre with the outside shin placed on the Pro Ball with the knees side by side in a parallel position.
Steps:
- The student will stand side to the barre in parallel.
- They will then bend the right leg (the outside leg) and place the ankle on the Proball behind them.
- The student will move the right arm through 1st, to 2nd, and then back behind their head.
- Have the student plié on the left supporting leg while extending the right leg back, sliding the ball slightly. Return.
- Repeat once again.
- They will then bend the left leg again and take the torso into a side port de bras toward the barre. Return.
- Repeat this sequence 2 times.
- The student will then roll the ball forward, extending their leg on top, and fold their torso forward, bending the supporting leg.
- Return upright with the working leg bent.
- Repeat this forward stretch 4 times.
