This exercise will target the lower leg strength of the students. It is so important to build the strength and ankle stability in the lower limbs to help with allegro and al so into pointe work.
Starting Position: Have the student place the fusion ball between the legs above the knees, the arms are down by the side of the students body.
Steps:
- The student will bring the chin to chest and roll all the way forward and then they will roll back up through the spine.
- The student will repeat this twice through.
- Slowly taking the arms up to 5th the student will rise up and down 4 times.
- The student will then plié, the student will port de bras the arm through 2nd to 5th using the body.
- The student will stay in this side bend and they will have the bottom arm join the top arm that is in 5th position.
- The student will bring both arms back up to 5th, they will stand tall and open both arms through 2nd position.
- The student will repeat this on the other side.
- They will then repeat the whole exercise again.
- The student will then plié bringing the arms to a 1st position.
- Staying in the plié the student will rise up on to demi pointe 4 times.
- The student will then stretch the knees wile still on demi pointe, taking the arms up to a 5th position.
- The student to finish will slowly open the arms through 2nd, lowering the heels down and finish with a small plié.
