This exercise helps students maintain pelvic alignment while honing the coordination and fluidity of the body, legs, arms, and hands. It also aims to improve foot articulation as the leg transitions from full extension to attitude alignment. Overall, it aims to help students perform more controlled, balanced, and precise movements.
Preparation:Position two mats rolled up on each side of the fit ball. The students stand behind the ball with the right foot placed on the centre of the ball in attitude devant.
Steps:
1. Guide students through the port de bras from first to second position. Ensure their hips stay square to the front.
2. As they fondu (plié), the right leg extends in devant while the right arm moves into the third position.
3. During the recovery, the leg returns to attitude devant as the right arm adjusts into the fourth position.
4. Repeat on the alternate side.
5. The third time the port de bras moved through first into fifth position.
6. Release the working leg into à la seconde and the arms move into an open fifth.
7. Change the legs and repeat in full on the alternate side.
Focus:Emphasise maintaining square hips and controlled movements in all devant positions.
