In this exercise the student will be building strength through the supporting leg. This will help the student find balance and freedom of movement in adage work.
This exercise is perfect for getting the student to focus on the stand leg and not the height of the working leg, which will help with alignment.
Starting Position: Begin by placing the pro-ball right up against the back of the students legs, both legs are over the pro-ball with the knees bent crossed in a flexed 5th position. The students palms are facing up on the floor.
Steps:
- Have the student roll up through the spine, stretching their legs away in a long bridge with the toes pointed in 5th.
- The student will développé the leg into a devant position.
- The student will then flex and point the foot.
- Have the student slowly lower the leg back down to 5th position.
- The student will then roll down through the spine, bending the knees back in.
- Keeping the students feet flexed the student will curl forward taking hold of the pro-ball.
- The student will then open both legs out to a 2nd position.
- The students legs will fold back in with the other foot crossed in front.
- The student will repeat this 4 times through.
- To finish the student will roll down through the spine bending the knees in, the student will then uncross their legs and finish with the feet flexed.
