This exercise is designed to develop students' understanding and execution of batterie movements, with a focus on leg alignment and adductor muscle activation. It's crucial for enhancing coordination and precision in ballet.
Preparation: Instruct students to stand behind the fit ball, placing the right foot in front in 3rd or 5th position.
Steps
1. Guide them to roll onto the top of the fit ball, ensuring their hips are centred and their wrists are under their shoulders with a slight bend in the elbows.
2. Emphasise an elongated spine, active abdominals, and a downward eyeline.
3. Execute 4 changement battu (royale), roll back up, change feet, and repeat with the left foot in front.
4. Continue with 4 entrechat quatre on each side, followed by échappé battu.
5. Finish by relaxing over the ball, encouraging students to release their body.
Focus: Stress the importance of maintaining proper hip alignment and engaging the adductors for controlled movements.
