This exercise is designed to enhance students' postural alignment and stability during weight transfers. Placing fusion ball between the calf muscles helps them stay aware of their alignment while they move and encourages activation of the vastus medialis muscle.
Preparation: Students face the barre, with a fusion ball placed between their calf muscles.
Steps:
1. Guide students to rise (elevé) while spreading their toes for better floor contact.
2. Students move the right foot into dorsi flexion. They should focus on transferring weight to the left leg while keeping the pelvis stable.
3. Instruct them to repeat the movement on the other side.
4. Have students to try doing the exercise at a faster pace, in double time with the music. Repeat on both sides.
Focus:Emphasise maintaining a stable pelvis and aligned posture throughout the exercise.
