This exercise aims to strengthen the back and thoracic spine while also engaging the abdominal muscles. It's a way to prevent any crunching in the lower back area and promote a healthy curve in the spine, which is crucial for ballet dancers posture and strength.

Preparation: Start by having students lie face down on their mats with their hands reaching over two fusion balls placed in front of them. Make sure that their shoulders are not compromised and their legs are together and naturally rotated.

Steps:

1. Instruct students to pull the fusion balls towards the sides of their body aligning the elbows with their ears.

2. Simultaneously lift the upper body and legs, but ensure they do not go too high. Maintain the neck to elongate.

3. Encourage the breathing pattern of inhaling and exhaling when fully extending, ensuring that the breathing flows naturally along with the phrasing.

4. Gradually lower both the body and legs down.

5. Repeat this movement 3 more times.

6. Relax in child's pose.

Focus: It is important for students to maintain a lengthened back and keep the abdominal muscles engaged throughout this exercise.
