Welcome to Move and Groove 7 guided by Jenna Roberts. This is a dynamic, upbeat class designed to warm up the entire body, strengthen the core and prepare the body for controlled movement. Dancers will need their Fusion Ball, mini loop band and ProBall.
We will begin the class with Adductor Ignition Blast, an exercise that aims to activate the inner thighs and gluteus medius to support healthy knee alignment. By isolating the adductors, dancers can work on relaxing the gluteus maximus to facilitate activation of the deep rotators.
Dancers will work on strengthening their deep core in Core Loop Challenge. This exercise uses the red mini loop band to challenge the dancer’s stability whilst in a plank position. Dancers will need to support their core with their quads, inner thighs and shoulders, making this a great full-body exercise. In addition to teaching strength and stability, this exercise is also great for establishing rhythm.
We will finish with a batterie exercise to support dancers in developing the fast twitch muscle fibres needed for quick footwork. During this exercise, dancers will focus on stabilising through their core while activating their inner thighs.
Tips:
Remind dancers to think about keeping one long straight line from their ankles to their head in plank.
Encourage dancers to squeeze the fusion ball with the inside not outside of their legs.
Promote shoulders back and down when raising the arms to 5th position with the band.
