Welcome to Fusion Ball Warm-Up 3, guided by Ella Roper! This class builds on previous sessions, focusing on rotation, alignment in arabesque and fifth position, and core activation. It also targets the adductors and pelvic muscles, essential for stability and control.
The session starts with our Fusion Warm-Up to sufficiently prepare the body for specific movement patterns. Exercises aimed at refinining alignment and muscular engagement including Small Scissors with Core and Clams with Core will then follow. The final exercise, Preparation for Cabriole, challenges and strengthens lower body coordination and control, serving to support dynamic movement in ballet.
Tips
Encourage students to visualise their movement—imagining how muscles activate and ‘switch on’ can improve engagement and performance.
Guide students to lower their legs only as far as they can maintain control in Clams with Core—depth should be personal to each dancer.
In Small Scissors with Core, remind dancers to both project their heels toward the ceiling when bending the knees in demi-plié and to check their pelvic alignment.
