Fusion Ball Warm-Up 4, guided by Ella Roper, is part of our specialised warm-up series using only the Fusion Ball to thoroughly prepare dancers for class, rehearsal, or performance. Each class will build progressively on the skills and strength developed in previous classes and new exercises will be added to target different muscles and movement patterns.
This particular session emphasises torso control and posture, highlighting oblique strength as an essential component for stable and expressive dancing. Through targeted core and oblique exercises, dancers can develop the strength and control needed to maintain beautiful arabesques and fluid épaulement.
Tips:
During exercises, encourage dancers to link conditioning directly to artistic improvements through visualising how this oblique activation will enhance their arabesques and épaulement.
In Get Down & Glow, remind students to maintain rib-to-pelvis alignment by drawing their ribs gently downward.
In Balance with Control, encourage dancers to prioritise controlled alignment of the pelvis. Suggest the additional challenge of closing their eyes to further improve proprioception.
