Focus Warm-up 5: Balance & Weight Placement, led by Coni Belgareto, develops foundational skills for young dancers through a combination of balance challenges and weight shift exercises. The class focuses on pelvic and lumbar stability, hip flexor strength, and clear posture—key elements for adage, jumps, and directional changes.


Students will explore how to hold and transfer their weight with confidence, building awareness through controlled movements and assisted balance work.


Tips:

Check for equal pelvic alignment in both static and dynamic balances.

Observe how students transition weight—remind them not to collapse into one hip.

Cue core engagement as the main source of balance support.
