Welcome to Mobility Class 1 – Advanced Level, guided by Emily.
This is the first session in a series focused on improving mobility and flexibility safely and progressively. The class begins with a warm-up targeting core activation and weight placement, helping dancers physically and mentally prepare before moving into deeper stretches.
Exercises like Full Body Flow with Ankle Stability and Power in Weight Placement will work to strengthen the lower body and bring awareness to the deep rotators and stabilising muscles while Safe Stretching will help dancers unlock their alignment through controlled flexibility work.
The goal is to support dancers in developing strength and control within their individual ranges. Healthy mobility will help reduce the risk of injury while enhancing technique.
Tips:
Emphasise that properly warming up is essential before any stretching session. Passive stretching alone will not sufficiently prepare the body for flexibility work. This class provides a full-body warm-up that will help dancers make the most of the later exercises.
Encourage students to focus on active mobility, which means developing the strength to support movement through a full range of motion.
Help dancers reproduce the core activation and alignment developed at the beginning of class when working on their flexibility.
