Welcome to Mobility Class 2 – Advanced Level, guided by Emily!
This session is designed to build not only mobility, but also the strength and balance needed to support it. The class focuses on training functional flexibility, concentrating on developing active control, and not just passively increasing the range of the movement.
Dancers will work on strengthening their adductors and abductors, two muscle groups that play a key role in both pelvic stability and general hip health. Strengthening these areas helps dancers maintain proper alignment, avoid compensation patterns, and reduce their injury when moving—especially during extensions and arabesques.
Tips:
Emphasise that both legs must stay active during mobility exercises—the supporting leg provides the base, while the working leg lifts with control.
Encourage dancers to maintain pelvic alignment, particularly in arabesque and extension work, to avoid straining their lower back.
Reinforce the importance of balancing strength and mobility—true flexibility is about maintaining control through the full range of motion.
